Round four of the FIM World Supersport Championship took place this weekend at Cremona, and the PTR Triumph Factory Racing team arrived in Italy feeling confident—particularly at a circuit where Tom Booth-Amos claimed his first WorldSSP podium just last year.

The British rider was on course for pole position in qualifying when an unfortunate crash cut his session short, leaving him to start Race one from seventh on the grid. Teammate Oli Bayliss lined up in 14th.

Undeterred, Booth-Amos made full use of the impressive pace of his Triumph Street Triple 765 RS, slicing through the field to battle for the lead. After an intense fight at the front, he ultimately crossed the line in a superb second place. His fastest lap of 1m 32.217 was the quickest of the race—securing him pole position for Race two on Sunday.

Meanwhile, teammate Oli Bayliss made strong progress at the technical Cremona circuit, climbing from 14th on the grid to finish a solid 12th. Despite a tough start, he found his rhythm mid-race, delivering competitive lap times that set a positive tone for Sunday.

In Sunday’s race, Booth-Amos lost a couple of positions off the start but it wasn’t long before he was in a thrilling three-way battle for the lead. The final two laps saw the front three riders trading places in a nail biting finish that ultimately saw the British rider bring his British bike home in a strong second place once again, for his fifth podium in four rounds.

Bayliss delivered another solid performance in Race two, finishing 13th and scoring points despite a final-lap penalty for exceeding track limits. The Australian showed consistent pace throughout the weekend and now looks ahead to round five at Autodrom Most, ready to build on his momentum.

Tom Booth-Amos #69: “Overall a very solid weekend to come away with two second places. Obviously a bit gutted that I didn’t get the win but I tried my hardest, I just lacked a little bit of grip at the end. Credit to the guys, they did another great job this weekend and we’ve carried on our form from the beginning of the season so I’m very happy.”

Oli Bayliss #32: “It was a bit of a half and half weekend. I am happy with the feeling on the bike, but not happy with the position.  I think we’ve made a pretty good starting point for the next round which means we can start the races hopefully in a better position because we are not missing much with the lap times.  Thanks to the team and everyone who supports me.”
